Chemo Round 5

Five down, one to go! Easier said than done. Symptoms takes a couple days to really kick in. The first thing I notice is the dry mouth. It’s not bad right away because this is when I guzzle the most water. Water, the cure for everything cancer-related, keeps away the dry mouth and mouth sores. The other is fatigue. A lot because my legs are still swollen (I’ll start the water pills tomorrow AM).

Next week will be the worst of it. I’ll need to do lots of resting. But for now, I feel good and am in good spirits! I had a fun time with my chemo buddy, another coworker! Today went pretty quick because the nurses ended up giving me the potassium drip with one of my chemo meds, so we didn’t need the extra time.

Minnesota got weird last night with tornado weather, so it was raining overnight. Usually when that happens, it freezes. And it did. But somehow most of the moisture dried up before the snow/blizzard started this morning. So the weather made me a little late, but I was still there 2 hours earlier than normal. Our lunch got their just as my infusion ended. They let us stay in the room and eat anyway. 🙂 I was lucky to get my favorite nurse today, so we had extra fun!

My nurse did tell me I got to ease up on the sugar – sour flavors really help with feeling hungry and/or nauseous. And I have a lot of Sour Patch Kids. 😉 But apparently that doesn’t help with the leg swelling. Which is definitely a bummer. Pickles…but salt doesn’t help, either. I’ll have to think of something else that works. Oh, ginger! But there’s also part of me that can’t eat it too much. (It also makes me miss sushi!)

So, good start to round 5! ????
