Diagnosis,  Treatment

Chemo Scheduled

My first “oncology infusion” is a week from Friday. It gives me a little bit more time to heal from the incisions and vaccinations.

The oncologist’s nurse ordered the medications I’ll need to take – a steroid that I’ll need to take the day before chemo, the day of, and then the day after. Plus, two drugs that help with nausea. The infusion will last most of the day on Friday. I’ll need to go back in Saturday for a shot (joy!). And a week after the infusion, I have a nurse visit to check “toxicity” levels.

The hope is that you recover enough in 3 weeks to get another infusion.

I’m relieved, honestly, to get this underway. The poking and prodding are not my favorites. And I like to know what I’m dealing with. This gets the process started. And time for the planning and list-making to commence!

Two things.

  1. This is probably where I’ll start needing help – or wanting company/distractions during infusions. Let my gal Lindsay know if that’s something you’d want to do.
  2. If you’re in the area and wanna grab delicious lunch, let me know! I want to hit up yummy restaurants before I lose my tastebuds. 😉
