A Normal Saturday
As I write this, we are still furiously cleaning the house for Auntie Windsay’s arrival (that’s how Mae says it). (I’m sure you all understand this!)
It’s been nice to have something to be excited about! Makes you feel like maybe things can be normal.
The kids have been chattering all day about where Linds gets to sleep (Mae said she’d move over so Linds could have room). They argue about Evelyn getting to fly on a plane to see Auntie Lindsay, and Mae keeps talking about the time we made gingerbread houses over video chat.
The neighbor who lives on one side of us stopped to chat after Mae zoomed away on her scooter saying, “I have so much ENERGY!” Yes, Mae, you do. I wasn’t sure Josh had told her the news, but I did. Mae, of course, starts asking if she could see my boobs. ? This child. Evelyn and I talked more about why Lindsay is here, what will be happening, all that stuff. She asks a few questions and then she’s off to the next thing. It feels like we’re going about things the right way, so that’s something.
Josh had to work, so the kids and I played outside for the morning. They “helped” me repot plants (kind of obsessed at the moment). Our driveway just got paved (great timing!), so they love the new, smooth surface. They both have skinned knees. 😉
Linds gets in after bedtime tonight, so the bargain was that the kids had to take a nap. Of course, Evelyn never took one. She kinda tried. She’s never been much of a sleeper. Mae, on the other hand, will still request to take a nap. ? We did take a trip to go get Starbucks and McD’s (yeah, my kids love happy meals), only Starbucks was closed, so we ended up at Caribou.
Pretty ordinary day. It was nice to have one of those.
Now off to see Auntie Lindsay!!!
